Book Lovers Tag; Created by Me!

I hope you don't mind that I'm not including any Valentine's Day posts this week but I have never had a valentine and so don't feel in a position to give any advice other than to have a great Valentine's Day tomorrow! Instead I bring you a tag created by myself.
So I thought while I've been on a rampage of writing tag posts, with nearly one a week recently, I thought I'd create one of my one that fits me perfectly! If you don't already know, I run a Book Lovers Network on Tumblr; it's pretty self explanatory- we just talk about books among normal chit chat! To go with this network, I thought I'd create a tag for not only the members but all you as well! I haven't seen anything similar to this in the blogging world so I'm hope I'm safe in making this my first ever tag.Anyway, I'm going to get straight into the questions and my own answers!

1. Favourite childhood book(s)?

I was a big lover of any book that my mum would read to me including Roald Dahl books which I seemed to love especially Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. At that age my mum could pick up any book read it to me and I would listen. A few I remember was the Smelly Dirty Dog and The Toy maker along with Aladdin and many others. I also remember reading a lot of Enid Blyton books.

2. Why did you start reading?

This is a hard question. Why did I chose a hard question! Probably because we had to read in primary school and in my first few years at high school, I didn't read until I saw my sister and it's a little sister's natural response to copy the older sister.

3. What book made you realise that you love reading?

Another hard one because there was many times I thought I loved reading. I remember reading Ways To Live Forever in primary which was definitely not meant for that age range but I loved it and I think it's the reasons I read the books I read today. I also reading Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo and I this made me fall in love with books and I went through a stage of loving war times set books. It's hard to pin point what I realised I loved reading but I think it was between these two.

4. What genre do you prefer?

I've had this tag planned since last year and if I'd answered it then I would of straight up said Contemporary novels but that's before I read the Hunger Games and starting reading the Divergent series an now I can see my love for Dystopian novels growing.

5. Preferred Author?

I would say John Green but how predictable of me so I'll have to mention Mitch Albom. His books always have such a deep message that always makes you question things. John Green just has his way with words in making you able to connect with the book and characters so easily because of the (what I think is) more simple language he uses.

6. Where do you like to read?

Anywhere. Normally from the comfort of my bed where I can get wrapped up into my duvet and snuggle down with a cup of tea and a book. I always try and carry a book round because you never know when you'll have a few minutes spare to get a few pages in. I take a book to school to read on the dull bus journeys to and from school as well as to give me a break at dinner times to relax from the stresses of school for half an hour or so.

7. First full series of books you read?

Malorie Blackman and her Noughts & Crosses series which I absolutely love. It will probably surprise you to see that this isn't Harry Potter which I could predict is many people's answer but I've actually only read 2 and a half Harry Potter books( maybe one day!) but I love the Noughts & Crosses series and I was so glad I read them and even when the characters started to change and they added more I still loved how they showed the different perspectives an how Malorie Balckman still managed to hold my attention through all of the books.

8. Have you always finished a full book if not, which one(s) didn't you finish?

There have been many books I've left unfinished; some I plan on re visiting such as The Abundance Of Katherines, Nick and Norah's infinite playlist and Everyday. Other's I don't plan on finishing anytime soon and the only one that comes to mind is The Great Gatsby; I think one of the main reasons I didn't read this is because my eyes could not stand the smallness of the print but I'm sure I will eventually read this. 

9. Do you own books you've bought and never read?

A lot and I noticed this recently when clearing out my books and saw lots I'd asked for for Christmas a year or so a go and just never read them. I find that if I buy or receive quite a few books at a time, I feel rushed to read them so if I'm not hooked quickly, I'd skip to the next book. Hopefully, I will get round to reading these!

10. Do/ did you enjoy the books that are/were assigned at school?

In the earlier years-yes. The first of the Noughts & Crosses books we studied when I was in year 9 (14 years old) and from looking at question 7, I enjoyed that book! However, I don't find myself having the same enthusiasm towards Of Mice and Men which we study for our GCSEs. Oh, how I wish our English department at school decided on How To Kill A Mocking Bird or The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas but no, we had Of Mice And Men. Don't get me wrong, I didn't mind the book that much and I love the hidden meanings to some parts of the book but I think because we spend ages working on it, it got to the point where it was giving me a headache.

11 .Music Or no music while reading?

Music! You probably would already be able to tell this from the numerous book related playlists but I find it hard just to sit in silence when reading. The music doesn't tend to distract me and most of the time I forget it's playing anyway!

12. What are reading at the moment or what are going to be reading?

I'm currently reading the Divergent series by Veronica Roth as mentioned before- I'm reading the second book in the Trilogy (Insurgent)

13. Have you go five book recommendations you would like to give?

There are two books I will always recommend to people: Where Things Come Back by Corey Whaley -which is probably one of my most loved books- along with The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom which I found to be quite a quick easy read which I also love. Even though I'd just read it, I feel I can already recommend Divergent  as well as Looking For Alaska by John Green and, finally, Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher. I actual only have 2 of the 5 in my house at the moment as I've been spreading the love of these books around have loaned them out to friends (even Divergent that I only finished a few days ago)!
