Prom Prep:Hair Trial & Final Make Up Choice

2 Jun 2014

The other day, I went for my hair trial at my local hairdressers to give my hair a go and it's the only opportunity I get to see nearly everything together so I've also decided on my make up after some help from you in the comments!

Starting with hair, I went with a clear vision of having my hair like a photo I found on Pinterest which you can see here. I thought it would be quite an easy hair style that while looks amazing, won't cause me any hair disaster during the night. I washed my hair the night before so my hair was nice and clean but also had my natural waves which my hairdresser has told me would make it easier and quicker so she didn't have to curl it. As soon as she start the front, I loved it and everything seem to be going will until my ridiculously thick hair came to haunt me. She was individually pinning up my curls and even when she crossed over bobby pins, they would still pop out. She then tried tying parts of and then clipping curls over the to to hide them but there still hasn't anything for the bobby pins to really grip to. She then decided to plait a few areas to give the slides and bobby pins something to grip on to and re shaping the slides to the ends bent back so it was harder for them come out of place. I have to say I was a bit apprehensive and a bit worried and confused that she was plaiting and but bobbles in however in the end, I really liked it. We both decided it stuck out a little too far and it wasn't perfect but they were all quick fixes we could deal with on the day. Here's a quick side profile photo of my hair!

After having my hair done, I went home and did my make up just as I'd planned to on the day. I'm not going to go into detail with how I did things because it's all pretty basic so I'm just going to include the products used.
For the base: Benefit Porefessional Primer, L'Oreal True Match Foundation, Collection Concealer, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, Rimmel Stay Matter Powder, Sleek matte bronzer  and highlighter from the Face Form Kit & Elf Candid Coral Blush.

For the eyes and brows: Avon Brow Definer,Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze, Revlon Shadow Links in Sand (Pearl) & Cocoa (Satin), Maybelline The Rocket Mascara & Avon Super Extend Mascara.

For the Lips: 17 Stay Pout Lipstick "Infared" & 17 lipstick "Rich". I will say here that I'm in need of a lip pencil so if you know any good cheap ones please let me know!

And that's my face done and my hair which are another two things I can tick off my list. I have a few ideas for the final parts of this series but I'd like to know what you'd like to see. I'm planning a What's In My Clutch Bag and I can also do a post on my transport arrangements if you fancy some tips and a post on my finishing touches. Let me know if you'd like to see any of these and if you have any other prom related posts you'd like to see.
Hope you're doing great,
